To me, content is an encounter, an experience. I keep that in mind when I write copy. Great copy gives the reader or viewer the experience of being with you and what's on your mind. For years, I have written copy for clients in their voice as part of my work building brands and businesses around their core brilliance.

Writing scripts is a favorite form of writing for me because I love unfolding information in ways that make sense and hold interest. It activates the teacher in me, the one who got high school sophomores to willingly memorize and recite powerful passages in a form of rap before there was rap. I took my manuscript to Jan for polishing, publishing, and naming. I received all of that, plus marketing language, printer selection, and book and cover design. In spite of an unexpected interruption when I was hospitalized with West Nile encephalitis, my book – Getting America Unstuck – was completed in a few short months. Jan’s way of shepherding me and this project, and her talents with language and design, made her contribution to the success of my book invaluable.
